Curriculum

The National Curriculum comprises of the 'Core' Subjects of English, Maths and Science, together with 'Foundation' subjects of Art & Design, Computing, Design & Technology, Geography, History, Music and PE. Religious Education is taught in line with the Oxfordshire Schools' Agreed Syllabus.

We have prepared plans for each subject and using these we have constructed a curriculum framework, which covers all that your child should be taught during the primary years. The teachers concentrate on the child's individual development and work is matched to the child's ability.  Individual assignments as well as group and class work feature in the school day and ICT is used extensively, linking all areas of the curriculum via laptops, tablets and interactive whiteboards.

SMSC development through the curriculum

At The Ridgeway CE Primary School, the children and their learning are at the very heart of every decision made. We aim to develop learners who are passionate, take ownership of their learning and are proud of their achievements.

The ethos of our school is such that all people who come into our school, whether staff, pupil, parent or visitor, are valued as individuals in their own right. They should set, and be entitled to expect from others, good standards of behaviour, marked by respect and responsibility.

The school will help the students to develop an inner discipline and will encourage pupils to not just ‘follow the crowd’ - they will make up their own minds and be ready to accept responsibility for what they do. They will grow through making choices and holding to the choices that they have made. They will want to be honest with themselves and with others.

At the beginning of each term,  all parents will receive copies of the topics for the term along with activities and objectives to be covered over that period in their child's class.   Please ask for more information if needed.
